The phone is coming. Samsung already gave us the date. An Unpacked event is scheduled for July 22, 20 26. That’s when the Z Flip 8 should arrive. It’ll join the Z Fold 8, the rumored Ultra variant, and new smartwatches on the stage.

Design updates are staying subtle

Leaked renders obtained by Android Headlines paint a picture of familiarity. PhoneArena and Engadget have republished these images. They show a device that looks remarkably like the Z Flip 7. The internal display is the same. The hole-punch camera hasn’t moved. Side-mounted buttons remain standard. The rear cameras sit horizontally, wrapped in the cover screen.
Engadget points out that the last major design leap was last year. The cover screen grew. It wrapped edge-to-edge around the cameras. A major overhaul this time around seems unlikely. Industry-wide memory chip shortages may be partly to blame. A lighter chassis is rumored, but structural changes are scarce.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 color lineup
If the hardware isn’t changing much, the paint job might.

Samsung usually sticks Exynos chips in global markets and Qualcomm silicon in the U.S. This year is no different. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to carry Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 in international versions. The U.S. model gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

SamMobile cited a leak from an X account named @fireuniverse8. The claim? The Z Flip 8 could be the last. Samsung might discontinue the clamshell line to focus resources on the Galaxy Z Fold family.
SamMobile noted this echoes earlier, unconfirmed reports. If true, the Z Flip would be the second major smartphone series to die. The Note line was the first.
But take this with a grain of salt. The source is an unverified social media user. Samsung has remained silent on the product roadmap beyond the July 2 event.
PhoneArena treated the device as a continuation of the yearly cycle. They pointed out market data shows consumers favoring book-style foldables like the Z Folks over flip phones. Engadget touched on this indirectly when discussing the marketing push around the Fold 8.
