Alexa Plus Now Finds Movie Scenes on Demand

Amazon is rolling out a new AI-powered feature for Fire TVs that allows users to summon specific movie scenes using just their voice. Instead of scrolling through endless titles or trying to recall exact timestamps, you can now describe a moment, and Alexa Plus will locate and play it directly on Prime Video.

How It Works

The system leverages artificial intelligence to analyze film captions and Prime Video’s X-Ray feature (which already provides scene-by-scene breakdowns). This means you can ask Alexa to play a specific scene without knowing the film’s title. For example, you could say, “Jump to the scene where Violet first meets Richard at the bar” or “Play the Ozdust ballroom scene in Wicked with Glinda,” and the correct moment will start streaming automatically.

Why This Matters

This feature is a game-changer for how people consume video content. It eliminates the friction of remembering movie titles, searching through menus, or fast-forwarding to find the moment you want. The ability to describe a scene rather than relying on memory makes sharing favorite clips with friends easier, too. Imagine explaining a hilarious bit from a comedy and having Alexa instantly play it.

Limitations and Future Expansion

Currently, the feature requires an Amazon Prime subscription and access to films either included with or purchased through Prime Video. Amazon says the initial rollout includes “thousands of movies” with plans to expand coverage rapidly. The company also intends to extend this functionality to TV shows, potentially making binge-watching even more seamless.

The introduction of Alexa Plus’s scene-finding feature is a clear step toward a more intuitive, voice-driven entertainment experience, removing barriers between viewers and the moments they love. This sets a new standard for content discovery and playback, pushing streaming services to prioritize ease of access.
