ChatGPT Releases Personalized “Year in Review” Feature

ChatGPT is now offering users a personalized “Year in Review” – a feature mirroring the popular “Spotify Wrapped” experience. The OpenAI chatbot will roll out this annual summary to eligible users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Eligibility and Access

The feature is available to those with free, Plus, or Pro subscriptions who have enabled chat history and reference saving. Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded. OpenAI emphasizes that the tool is designed to be privacy-focused, lightweight, and user-controlled.

How It Works

Like Spotify Wrapped, ChatGPT’s review compiles user data into visually appealing graphics and personalized “awards.” These awards recognize how users have engaged with the chatbot throughout the year, such as being a “Creative Debugger” if you used it to brainstorm solutions or explore ideas.

The system also generates a unique poem and image based on your primary topics of interest. This raises questions about future iterations, particularly as ChatGPT expands into more adult-oriented content in 2026. OpenAI says the experience will be promoted on the app’s home screen but will not force itself on users.

Availability

Users can access “Your Year with ChatGPT” through the web app, iOS, and Android versions of ChatGPT. Alternatively, simply ask ChatGPT directly to trigger the review.

In essence, OpenAI is gamifying user engagement by turning interaction data into a shareable, personalized experience. This move reinforces the trend of AI platforms leveraging behavioral psychology to deepen user connections, similar to how music streaming services use yearly summaries to drive loyalty.
