Wi-Fi is annoying.
Or maybe it’s just the search for it.
You find yourself at a coffee shop, a airport terminal, or just trying to work from home and the network won’t stick. Trusting strangers with your passwords isn’t ideal. Tethering your phone drains your battery like crazy.
There is another way now. AT&T launched the Unlimited Day Pass for iPad owners who need high-speed data but don’t want to sign another long-term contract.
Pay as you go
Here is the deal. It costs $3 for 24 hours of data.
No strings. No monthly minimum.
If you have a cellular-enabled iPad (Apple calls this Wi-Fi + Cellular ), you can activate the pass through the Settings app. Go to Cellular Data and select Find a New Plan. Pick ATTTT and follow the steps. You do not even need a separate app. It happens right on the device.
Who can use this?
- iPad Pro
- iPad Air
- iPad mini
- Older cellular models (eSIM required)
It doesn’t even matter if you are already an AT&T customer.
Your first pass is free. Seriously, it costs nothing to try.
Every day after that runs the standard three dollars via credit card.
The simplicity of it is the main selling point. You pay, you get connected. You stop, you don’t.
Is the speed unlimited? Technically yes. Practically… depends on the network. An ATTTT rep confirmed the speed maxes out at what the hardware and tower can handle, though they can throttle it if congestion hits hard.
Still no Android
If you use an Android tablet, sit down and cry softly.
For now, the service is iPad-only. A representative mentioned Android expansion is on the roadmap but no date was given. No release date means someday, or possibly never.
Why wait? You want internet access that isn’t tied to a lease or a home address.
Maybe $3 a day adds up if you do it often, but for a few urgent hours, it beats hunting for open hotspots.
