Sony’s XM6 headphones are cheap right now. Good timing.

Forget the $650 “Collexion” launch. Just buy the XM6s.

Sony just released these anniversary models called Collexion to mark a decade of their flagship series. They are stunning. Also wildly expensive. Seeing that price tag actually helps the WH-1000 XM6 look reasonable again. The previous generation model—released just twelve months ago—has quietly dropped below four hundred dollars.

Specifically $398 at Amazon as of May 20.

That is $62 off the standard list price. A 13 percent discount. It ties the record low.

Here is why that matters.

The XM6s remain the gold standard for sound among all over-ear headsets we have tested. Not just good. Best. And the noise cancellation? Tim Beck Werth, Tech Editor at Mashable, says the ANC in the XM6 is “as good as or better than any [he’s] ever heard.” That quote lands. It’s hard to top.

Before the sale, the $460 price tag was defensible. You got comfort, a travel-friendly folding mechanism, and that audio fidelity. Now? The math flips entirely. The value proposition sharpens into something aggressive.

Think about what you keep.

  • 30-hour battery life.
  • More microphones, so your voice doesn’t sound like you’re speaking from the bottom of a well during calls.
  • LDAC support for high-res audio streaming.
  • Touch controls that actually work.
  • A redesigned button for toggling ambient sound.

Compared to the new Collexion pair, yes. You lose some plastic. A slightly prettier carrying case. Marginal audio tweaks that probably only audiophiles with expensive ears will notice. But you save over two hundred and fifty bucks.

Two hundred.

Is a $650 pair of headphones really worth $250 more than last year’s version that already cancels out jet engines? Probably not for most of us. The XM6s are excellent. They fold flat. They last forever.

Unless you really, really like showing off your wealth with hardware that looks like jewelry, the choice has basically been made for you. The price dropped. The tech is still king.

Grab them if you see them. They’ll be gone
